Gorilla (guerilla) Marketing!!!

Guerilla marketing is a low-budget, unconventional spin on marketing that often doesn’t feature the actual product at all. Also another form of stealth marketing, this type of campaign tricks the consumer into thinking about a certain product, without them realizing they have been exposed to commercial advertising. E.g. Apple Mac Mini (Remember!)

Nowadays customers don't want advertisers going gun ho about showcasing their product. They want entertainment. In India ITC tried to bring the same concept with their BINGO snacks which more or less tried to break the myth of traditional advertising. I hope by now people can very well understand the effectiveness of its advertisement by mind share that BINGO has.

I guess its the new form of advertising that is catching the customers attention. But companies have to make sure that they don't fall into the trap of short term sales. They should try to build long term brand values.

wonder why you choose to label this as stealth marketing...aint stealth marketing about product promotion without the consumer knowing that it is one, e.g. editorial content about a product that is paid for by the company

umm...

Can you illustrate a bit on stealth marketing ? maybe put a more explanatory post ... one with examples.

Also, how does it differ from ambush marketing. Are these two some kind of "condemned" marketing techniques ? Do they work ?

Interested to learn about it.

Another thing about the Bingo and this Dairy milk adverts. I am not sure whether this really appeals to the mass semi-intellectual crowd. From what I comprehend, one needs to observe carefully what exactly is the guy trying to convey, in order to understand the advertisement itself, to get to the product itself...

Not sure whether this would work well in india, for products like... umm, let's say "Dabur Red" toothpaste or "Vicco Turmeric" or "Bajaj scooter" or something...

The idea is, where the target segment is not necessarily the 'intellectual class', does this advert medium work ?

Do post more on this!
